Attitude of "Gratitude & Wellness" Tip

I've been a bit behind due to schedule-which brings me to today's post. The Elephant Journal blog includes this quote: "“You don’t get to choose how you’re going to die. Or when. But, you can decide how you’re going to live now.” ~ Joan Baez.

One of the important tenets of achieving balance in our lives, is making sure that what we do is in alignment with our goals, passions, purpose and vision. Often if we are being "mindful" of what we have done in the past week, and if we are honest with ourselves, we may have slipped into the mode of doing things that were not necessary, and were not in alignment with our mission and purpose. For example, did anyone respond to an email because they felt they "had to" or just because it was there? Did anyone feel compelled to respond to someone else, when it was not urgent, important, and maybe not productive? Did you spend 30 or 60 minutes on Facebook or Instagram?

Did any of those actions take time away from what you set out to do? How many times have you set your mind on a goal, e.g. "I'm going out for a run now " or " I am going to take that Yoga class", or planned to focus exclusively on a major work task done so you could start the next week more relaxed--- then went sideways as your mind distracted to someone else's needs, or something you really didn't even want or need to do?

Joan Baez's quote above, that we "can decide how we're going to live now", is another way of saying, be mindful of who and what are truly important to us, what we really want to do, what we want out of life, who we want to spend time with, what we want to achieve. Next, assess what things we did or accomplished that take us further on that path toward our goal or in furtherance of our mission. If you are exactly where you want to be, and doing exactly what you want to do, congratulations!

If however, you spent more time on the distractions, or other people's urgencies rather than your own, it's never too late to take stock, regroup, and remember, today is a new day.

In taking stock, it's always an opportunity to think of GRATITUDE-there are always things to feel grateful for. Looking back on the week, what can you find to feel grateful for? Write or Journal it, Express it, perhaps even say it out loud to someone. Have a wonderful Sunday and upcoming week. Namaste!
