Sunday, March 24, 2024 WOMEN’S HISTORY MONTH FILM FESTIVAL FILM PRESENTATION: “MAYA – AND STILL I RISE”

MAYA ANGELOU Movie3-24.jpg

Maya Angelou, a major influence in the writings and theater of Black America, was more than a poet - she was an actor, singer and dancer, an activist, and ultimately an icon.  She was the first black poet to read at an inauguration, in 1993, and her sultry voice then on became instantly recognizable. In this documentary, directors Bob Hercules and Rita Coburn Whack portray her impact by weaving her words with intimate archival photographs and videos. A celebration of an extraordinary talent unforgettably embedded into the 20th century's most defining moments.

* The film will be introduced by reformed lawyer turned mediator, best-selling author, speaker, documentary assistant producer, Michelle Reinglass followed by a brief discussion.

WHEN: Sunday, March 24, 2024; 3:00 PM – 5:20 PM LOCATION: Laguna Beach Cultural Arts Center - Laguna Beach, CA.

Wednesday, March 27, 2024; 6:30 PM – 8:30 PMWOMEN’S HISTORY MONTH FILM FESTIVAL FILM PRESENTATION: “SHE’S BEAUTIFUL WHEN SHE’S ANGRY”

SHE_S BEAUTIFUL Movie.jpg

This powerful documentary resurrects the early history of the outrageous, often brilliant women who founded the modern women's movement from 1966 to 1971. In the voices and footage of the women who lived it, the film provides a provocative, rousing and sometimes humorous account of the many breakthrough moments serving as the foundation for the 20th century liberation movement. If you were there, you'll delight in the memory, and if you weren't, there are important lessons to be learned.

* The film will be introduced by reformed lawyer turned mediator, best-selling author, speaker, documentary assistant producer, Michelle Reinglass followed by a brief discussion.

Employment Case Settlement Agreements:

The Tail Wagging the Dog

From pre-litigation to trial and post-litigation, a written settlement agreement is key to memorializing and hence, authenticating the settlement. However, it is what's IN the agreement, or what's NOT in it, that really creates the dissension between parties. In this program the panelists will try to dismantle the settlement agreement and discuss norms, non-norms and all that is new.
