Motivation and De-motivation: Worth thinking about

Although I mediate many different types of cases, due to my 30 years of experience litigating employment cases, those form the majority of my caseload. This interesting TED talk highlights motivation and de-motivation of employees. As you will see here, ignoring someone's work or ideas is as bad as "shredding" it. Giving more challenge will inspire more love of one's work. In most of my mediations, a plaintiff's first and most oft-expressed emotion is the lack of appreciation for their work. I believe that is often a contributor to their bringing a lawsuit. Perhaps demonstration of appreciation for employees' output and work might reduce or eliminate lawsuits; Or perhaps ease resolution of their claims. Worth thinking about.
